Have you ever heard that hard work is the key to success? Probably a lot, and it’s true! Hard work is key to success, and it’s for a variety of reasons.

But before we dive into our reasons why working hard is the key to success, let’s talk about why it’s important.

Why does working hard even matter?

Just stated, work leads to achievement. I’m living proof of that.

Four years ago, I knew I needed to start doing something that would require me to work harder than I had ever worked before. I wanted to shift back into the nonprofit sector.

One of the issues that I was experiencing in my career transition was that I did not have a bachelor’s degree. I had an associate’s, which was good where I had been but not the next step.

For the next two years, I sacrificed my college education to work full-time. It was difficult. From 7 am to 4 pm, I taught students from 5 am to 10 am and then taught classes from 6 pm to 9 pm.

During my breaks, I worked on my research when I could and utilized time blocks. On Saturdays, I would write an essay instead of hanging out with friends. I spent the entire day on Sundays catching up on sleep and preparing for the week ahead.

For the past two years, people knew me as a dedicated worker. I had to be dedicated and hardworking for two years!

As a result of my experience, many job opportunities came to me after my graduation. This experience and others make me believe that hard work is the key to success.

5 Reasons why being hardworking is the key to success!

I have already told you my story and will now explain why hard work is the key to success and how attaining your goals can pay off in your own life.

Not only does hard work get you praise and other opportunities, but there is also a great deal of personal growth that comes from it. Here are several reason why you should work!

1. Hard work motivates and rewards you

Being a worker is rewarding. When we work hard, we can reap our rewards and successes. The entire process of work can be a reward that can serve as a stepping-stone to self-improvement and help you move in the right direction.

It’s not all success, but seeing how far you’ve come can be motivating. With significant undertakings such as going back to school or aiming for a promotion at job, you can even feel motivated.

2. Hard work shows you are dependable

Another reason for being hard-working is because it shows that you are trustworthy and dependable. Being someone who has others depend on makes you unforgettable.

People will begin talking to you once you’re known for working hard in your field. A colleague at the office might ask you to join his or her team, or a co-worker might seek your assistance in handling a project.

If you own a business, your products, or services could be the first choice for your customers because of your reliability.

People want to hire an individual who is going to get things done on their side, and based on your achievements, they will know who to contact. People wishing to work on your behalf demonstrates just how important hard work is.

3. Hard work shows commitment

It is absolutely vital that you pick a path for yourself and work hard to attain it. This may mean that you need to turn down anything that does not line up with your goals or approach.

Saying no to things that don’t serve you and being dedicated while working hard demonstrate your commitment. Your dedication is what will help you get ahead in your career or business.

Hard work allows you to hone your skills over time. Procrastination can mean disaster when dealing with even the most straightforward jobs.

Paying attention to distractions can lead to idleness, but the opposite is also true. Maintaining good self-discipline will help you to accomplish your goals. It’s another excuse for hard work being a success.

5 Key tips to embrace hard work because hard work is the key to success

Now that you know why effort is the key to success, here are some tricks for working smarter, not harder.

1. Keep a log of your accomplishments to keep you motivated

Even with my ADHD, remembering everything I do to be promoted or rewarded later is extremely difficult.

By distributing out emails as they come in or jotting down the results of projects or appreciations you may get, you can document all of your accomplishments.

For me, having all of my accomplishments available made it easier for me to go back to my boss to request a promotion when I felt that the position was mine to take.

An individual can prosper in his career through planning and strategic actions, such as recording his accomplishments.

2. Post professional updates on social media

It is sometimes difficult to be recognized for your good works, but social media will help. Share your achievements by publishing them on your social media accounts.

LinkedIn is an excellent professional tool that is free. So if you aren’t already using it to its full potential, we have a Clever Girl Finance LinkedIn Course that is totally free and can help you.

By sharing regular updates to your professional social network with your contacts, your reputation will remain high the next time an opportunity with your name on it arises.

You will see your progress as you reach your milestones, demonstrating that working hard is the key to success.

3. Set SMART Goals

Dedication is a good characteristic for anyone, but it is easy to commit to the wrong thing if you don’t know where you’re going. Setting goals can help you not only develop new routines but also keep you on track.

Set SMART Goals based on your to-do lists to help you complete your tasks more efficiently and achieve greater financial success. SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

When you know how to approach your goals efficiently, you’ll be able to achieve them more efficiently. Hard work is the key to success, so focus on what you want to reach.

4. Gamify your results and treat yourself

Perhaps it’s because I am prone to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but one of the ways I fulfill my commitment goals is by involving myself in a fun game at the end of a hard day. It is hard for me to realize that I have to exercise and do the same task over and over.

I know I should exercise and that it is healthy for me. However, having to do it week after week can be somewhat monotonous. And that’s anyway you need to commit to and work hard for.

But setting goals into a game can motivate you to greater success, and it may help you overcome bad habits by replacing them with healthier ones.

Break your larger goals into smaller ones and treat yourself once you accomplish them. For example, if you need to work out four times per week, award yourself $10 per week if you exercise. How else can I fund my gardening hobby?

5. Plan out your schedule and utilize time management

I mentioned before that I’m able to stay motivated by “gamifying” my results, but my secret to getting things done is a good old-fashioned paper planner.

When you’re busy, it’s challenging to manage everything, and even more challenging to keep track of it all. Time is extremely limited, which is why time management is the key to success for many highly successful individuals. Many successful people operate this way.

Make a list of everything you have to do each week. Then sit down with your planner and determine how you are going to schedule your time.

Only by knowing the day of the week in advance can we organize efficiently. In addition, time blocking lets you work more efficiently.

By employing a schedule template, you can manage your time while staying on track and taking time for yourself and other important things when they arise.

In the end, hard work is key to success!

If you’re a dedicated person, people will know. No one can question what you do because they know you are reliable, dependable, and devoted. As you achieve each of your ambitions, the rewards will accumulate as well.

Work hard, and don’t let your work ethic go to waste. By practicing perseverance, sharing your hard work stories, and avoiding laziness, you can remain productive. Keep your eyes on the prize and keep working!
